Created by Jost Amman in 1849, this wood engraving is a remarkable reproduction of an original artwork from that era. The image transports us into a bustling workshop where we witness the intricate process of metalworking. In this scene, a skilled male coppersmith can be seen diligently filing away at a piece of copper. Surrounded by various tools and materials, he showcases his expertise in manipulating this precious metal. The atmosphere exudes industry and dedication as other men work alongside him, each contributing to the manufacturing process. The print beautifully captures not only the physical act of making but also conveys the essence of an occupation deeply rooted in tradition and skill. It serves as a testament to human ingenuity and our ability to shape raw materials into functional objects.
