Church of St Peter Mancroft, Norwich, Norfolk, c 1850. Albumen print by Thomas Damant Eaton (1800-71). Thomas Damant Eaton, described as the father of the arts in the Eastern Counties, was a music critic and musician, and a gentleman amateur photographer who became the first President of the Norwich Photographic Society. Active from the mid-1840s, Eaton worked with paper negatives and salted paper prints and was familiar with many photographic processes.
