Advert for London Shoe Company 1898

A selection of victorian boots, real whale skin for shooting, ladys field boot made from tan or blacking calf, button or lace, smart toe brogues. An interesting advert for Victorian branding for cycling shoes, this was solely by the London Shoe Company under the directions of George Lacy Hillier an English racing cyclist, and an excellent all-around athlete. Barring a stamp on the sole of the shoe with the words The Lacy Hillier Shoe they promoted a thin steel plate that was fixed between the inner and outer sole, rendering the fore part of the sole perfectly rigid, whilst the waist was made as light and pliable as possible.
