The lady's headdress takes the shape of a carriage, a popular fashion trend during this era, symbolizing wealth and luxury. Her face is adorned with beauty spots, a common cosmetic practice among the upper classes. Necklaces and chokers add to her regal appearance, while her fitted bodice, short sleeves, and long lace cuffs accentuate her figure. The dress is completed with a lace apron, adding a delicate touch to the overall design. A watch hanging from her belt is a practical accessory, reflecting the importance of timekeeping in the 18th century. This image is based on various historical sources, including Hogarth's Grays Inn Journal, Thomas Jefferys Collection of Dresses, and The Connoisseur. The meticulous attention to detail in the lithograph is evident in the intricate patterns of the lace and the realistic rendering of the lady's features. The use of handcolouring adds a vibrant and rich quality to the print, making it a valuable historical record of fashion during the time of King George II.
