The illustration, part of Frederic Cuvier's Dictionary of Natural Science: Ornithology, was produced in Paris, France. Jean Gabriel Pretre, a painter of natural history at Empress Josephine's zoo, created the original artwork for this engraving. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, Pretre captured the intricacies of these birds' plumage and anatomy with remarkable accuracy.
