The pier, a cherished symbol of Brighton's rich maritime history and a popular tourist attraction in the seaside town of East Sussex, had been closed for several years due to extensive damage and neglect. Tragically, on this fateful day, a fire broke out, reducing the once-grand Victorian structure to a smoldering ruin.
