VISUAL DESCRIPTION
This is a vintage advertisement for the Avro 698, described as the "World's First Delta Bomber. " The image showcases an illustration of the aircraft in flight, emphasizing its distinctive delta wing design. Below the aircraft is a bold triangular logo with text that reads "Avro 698 World's First Delta Bomber, " highlighting its pioneering status. The accompanying text reflects on years of research and successful test flights, suggesting that this bomber represents a strategic bombing weapon that will carry more payload faster, higher, farther and more economically than any aircraft flying at that time. It also includes branding information for A. V. Roe & Co. Ltd. , Manchester, which was part of the Hawker Siddeley Group—a major British aerospace company during the mid-20th century. Please note: This caption provides context based on what can be seen in the image; however, historical accuracy regarding claims made by advertisements should always be verified through additional sources.
