In the turbulent waters of the North Sea, on the fateful day of September 13, 1914, an historic submarine incident unfolded. The German cruiser Hela, a formidable vessel of the Kaiserliche Marine, met its end in a bold and daring maneuver orchestrated by an Allied submarine. The top illustration in this print captures the dramatic moment of the Hela's sinking, as the submarine emerges from the depths, its periscope piercing the surface, signaling the imminent demise of the enemy cruiser. The submarine's success in this mission marked a significant turning point in the naval warfare of World War I.
