They won certificates, cheques and tankards to mark their success in the annual prize awards organised by the national Joint Council for the Building Industry in the northern region. The four are; Bricklayer Alan Griange, third from left, Martin Walker, fourth left, Paul Hammerton, fifth left and Mark Ferguson, extreme right. Tom Clements in the foreground, deputy chairman of the Construction Industry Training Board, made the presentations. Others in the picture are Mark Ambury, Neil Scollen, Apprentice of the Year Gary Woodridge and Gordon Nesbitt. 14th May 1990
