The Bournemouth Non-rigid airship G was 108ft long with a capacity of 45, 000 cu ft.
It became the first to have flown in Britain since the R.101 when it took off at RAF Cardington formerly the Royal Airship Works, Bedfordshire on 19th July 1951.
It had a crew of three which unfortunately did not include itIs designer, Lord Ventry, as he was overweight at 17 stone.
It was supported by the town of Bournemouth and others as a part of the Festival of Britain.
