Framed Prints From Memory Lane

Framed Print of The R. E. M. E. - Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers is the British Army

The R.E.M.E. - Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers is the British Armys newest corps.
It has been in operation since October 1st, 1942.
With personnel recruited from other branches of the Army (notably the RAOC, RAS and Royal Engineers), it met on outstanding need the closer co-ordination of all the engineering maintenance services of a mechanised army.
The 8the Armys victory is proof of the REMEs success.
Thanks to the Corps high-speed echelon repair service, General Montgomerys tanks and armoured vehicles were able to pursue the fleeing Axis Panzers in a non-stop drive under some of the worst conditions mechanised transport has ever been called upon to surmount
Picture is taken as one of a series with the REME in a forward area, Tripolitania, showing various stages in the recovery and repair of tanks, etc,
Picture shows: The heavy hauling tackle is fastened to a disabled General Grant tank preparatory to hauling it up on to the transporter.
