Sothebys auction of Elton John items. Eltons famous Doc Martin boots were marched out of an auction for a record £ 11, 000 - in he hands of their maker. The 4ft 61/2 inch fibreglass lace-ups with platform shoes and metal callipers were bought by Stephen Briggs, whose Northampton family firm manufactures Doc Martens under licence from Germany.
