Framed Prints From National Railway Museum
Framed Print of Tynemouth, LNER poster, 1926
Poster produced for the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promote rail services to the coastal town of Tynemouth, Tyne and Wear. The poster shows two women and a man looking out over the seaside from a high incline. This poster was produced just before the General Strike in 1926. Economically, this was a bad year for the railways, especially the LNER. It was said afterwards that the publicity of 1926 had been the only bright feature for the railway. Artwork by Alfred Lambert (1902-1970), who studied art at the Allan-Frazer Art College in Arbroathy. He designed posters for LNER and London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) and illustrated books. National Railway Museum is the home of iconic locomotives. Our historic prints reflect the age and quality of the original artwork we hold to preserve their artistic character, including authentic colour reproduction, marks and creases. © NRM/Pictorial Collection
