EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from September 1988, we are transported back to the historic moment when the members of Lostwithiel Bowling Club proudly posed with their hard-earned trophy, the Kenyon Cup. This victory marked a significant milestone in the club's 62-year history, as they clinched this prestigious title for the very first time. The photograph captures a sense of camaraderie and achievement as these skilled bowlers bask in their well-deserved glory. Dressed impeccably in their bowls uniforms, blazers, ties, and jackets, each member exudes pride and satisfaction. Their beaming smiles reflect not only their personal triumph but also the collective effort that brought them here. Standing tall at the back row are Brian Sweet, Charles Breize, Pete Hambly, Nip Fenton, John Cobbin, and Bob Bennett – pillars of strength who contributed greatly to this remarkable win. In front of them stand Dennis Walford (captain), Alan Pearce (vice-captain), Gordon Levitt (team spirit personified), Brian Croft (a true bowling maestro), Lionel Richards (the ever-reliable player), and David Rule (rising star). Photographed by Jonathan Barker against a picturesque Cornish backdrop at Porthleven during an outdoor cup contest between divisional runners-up; it was Redruth who fell victim to Lostwithiel's prowess in an intense semi-final before Camborne succumbed to their skillful play in a thrilling final match
