A chromosome abnormality, disorder, anomaly, aberration, or mutation is a missing, extra, or irregular portion of chromosomal DNA. When cells are exposed to radiation or carcinogens, DNA sometimes breaks, and the broken ends may rejoin in different patterns from their original arrangement.
