Miss Betty Nuthall the young lawn tennis champion, successfully defended her prestige against Miss Kathleen Stammers, the all conquering newcomer to big tennis when they met in the National Hard courts tennis championship at Bournemouth. Play was held up for some time while Miss Stammers dashed in a car to fetch her tennis clothes, which she had forgotten until the game was due to commence.
