The majestic Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) gracefully wades through the stillness of night, its reflection shimmering in the tranquil waters. In Camargue, France, Europe and North Hesse, Hesse, Germany, this magnificent bird takes flight with elegance and grace. Even in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, East Africa, Africa it stands tall amidst the vast wilderness. With a keen eye for prey, the Grey Heron hunts for food amongst moss-covered landscapes adorned by lochs and Celtic rainforests, and is not afraid to engage in a squabble with its feisty counterpart - the Little Cormorant (Microcarbo / Phalacrocorax). During breeding season, this avian beauty adorns itself with vibrant plumage that accentuates its head and showcases an orange beak bursting with color. A true spectacle to behold up close. "Dancing in the dark, " they say as both Great Egret (Ardea alba) and Grey Heron engage in a playful tussle at Lake Csaj in Kiskunsagi.
