Greetings Card : The Bone and the Falls
Cards from Australian Views
The Bone and the Falls
After crossing the deceptively fast flowing Hopkins River, I approached Hopkins Falls, a short drive from Warrnambool. Having accidentally forgotten/broken/disabled/misplaced all my tripods during previous seascaping or shooting in Melbourne the day before, I was forced to get down low and rest the camera on rocks for long exposures. On one such composition I noticed a large animal rib propped against a foreground rock

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print titled "The Bone and the Falls" captured by Edmund Khoo Photography, we are transported to the mesmerizing Hopkins Falls near Warrnambool. The photographer's journey to reach this stunning location was not without its challenges, as they had forgotten or misplaced their tripods during previous photography excursions. Undeterred by this setback, Khoo ingeniously improvised by getting down low and resting their camera on rocks for long exposures. As our eyes explore the composition, we are drawn to a peculiar element that adds an intriguing touch to the scene - a large animal rib propped against a foreground rock. This unexpected discovery sparks curiosity about its origin and history within these natural surroundings. The powerful flow of the deceptively fast-moving Hopkins River is beautifully contrasted with the gentle cascades of water falling from above at Hopkins Falls. The juxtaposition of these elements creates a harmonious blend of strength and tranquility in nature's embrace. Khoo's skilled eye captures every detail with precision, allowing us to appreciate the intricate textures of moss-covered rocks, misty waters, and lush greenery surrounding this picturesque landscape. "The Bone and the Falls" serves as a reminder that even when faced with unforeseen obstacles, creativity can flourish. Through his lens, Edmund Khoo invites us to immerse ourselves in Australia's breathtaking views while appreciating both grandeur and subtleties found within our natural world.
