In 1952 AJS rider Bill Doran was out practising on his 3-valve 7R3. Around the Ballacraine area, the lower engine bolt (arrowed) came adrift as he rounded the left-hander after Ballig Bridge. It lifted the front wheel. He crashed and broke a eg. That left-hander became Dorans Bend ever after
