EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a significant moment in history, showcasing the future Duke of Clarence aboard the majestic HMS Britannia. Prince Albert Victor Christian Edward of Wales, known affectionately as Prince Eddy, was destined for greatness as the eldest son of Prince Albert Edward, who would later become King Edward VII. The young prince's potential to ascend to the throne is evident in his confident stance on this Royal Navy training ship. The image exudes a sense of European culture and sophistication, symbolizing both his adolescence and his military aspirations. Taken from "The Queens Resolve (I Will Be Good) With Royal Anecdotes and Incidents - A Jubilee Memorial" by Rev. Charles Bullock B. D. , this photograph serves as a poignant reminder of an untimely tragedy that befell the royal family. Despite being next in line for kingship upon his father's passing, Prince Eddy tragically succumbed to influenza at just 28 years old in 1892. Published during Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee year in 1887, this historical artifact pays homage to her reign from June 20th, 1837 until January 22nd, 1901. Preserved by Fine Art Storehouse under the careful curation of whitemay, this print offers viewers a glimpse into an era defined by royalty and nobility.
