Born as Prince Alexander of Teck on March 3, 1874, he was a beloved member of the British Royal Family and the younger brother of Queen Mary. Alexander's military career began in 1892 when he joined the Royal Horse Guards, later known as the Blues and Royals. He rose through the ranks and was appointed Aide-de-Camp to King George V in 1902. In this photograph, he wears the distinctive cap and uniform of a captain in the regiment, reflecting his dedication and commitment to his military service. The Earl of Athlone's life was marked by a strong sense of duty and loyalty to his family and country. He served as Governor-General of South Africa from 1924 to 1931 and played a significant role in the establishment of the Union of South Africa. Later, during World War II, he served as the Governor-General of Canada from 1940 to 1946, where he and his wife, Princess Alice, were instrumental in supporting the war effort and boosting morale.
