Born in 1742 in Ruhland, Brandenburg, Blücher rose through the ranks of the Prussian army to become one of the most formidable military leaders of his time. His strategic brilliance and unwavering determination played a crucial role in the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte in the historic Battle of Waterloo on June 18, 1815. Blücher's military career began in earnest during the Seven Years' War, where he distinguished himself in several battles. However, it was during the Napoleonic Wars that he truly made his mark. In 1813, Blücher led the Prussian forces in the Battle of Leipzig, which is considered one of the largest battles in European history. His victory there paved the way for the final confrontation with Napoleon.
