Philippos V of Macedon, also known as Philippos the Monger or Philippos the Bastard, was a powerful and influential king who ruled over the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon from 238 to 179 BC. This striking image depicts Philippos in the prime of his reign, dressed in the traditional attire of a Macedonian king. He wears a golden diadem adorned with precious stones, a long tunic, and a himation, a type of cloak, draped over his shoulders. Philippos came to power after the assassination of his father, Perseus, in 168 BC.
