Historians have banded together to produce a new display for Preston Hall Museum

Historians have banded together to produce a new display for Preston Hall Museums atmospheric period street. A gents hat shop front has just been added to the row of Victorian shops in the cobbled street. The museum has been able to mount the display of hats that were fashionable between the 1890s and 1920s thanks to a donation from the Winpenny family, who owned the traditional gents outfitters in Stockton. Here, Catherine Rennison of Hartburn, shows two of the hats on display. 11th April 1983

The latest addition to the row of enchanting Victorian shops is a meticulously recreated gents hat shop front. This delightful display showcases an array of hats that were once in vogue between the 1890s and 1920s. Thanks to a generous donation from the Winpenny family, former owners of a traditional gents outfitters in Stockton, the museum has been able to present this remarkable collection for all visitors to admire. As we delve into history through fashion, Catherine Rennison from Hartburn takes center stage in this image, proudly displaying two exquisite hats on behalf of the museum.
