Banana tree. Stem of green bananas (Musa sp. ) ripening on a banana tree, a tropical plant that can grow up to six metres high. Clusters of bananas (hands) initially grow up through the leaf system. Once the flowers of the tree fall off (not seen), the clusters are pulled over by the weight of the developing fruit.
