Cosmonaut Andrian Nikolayev, 1962
Andrian Nikolayev (1929-2004), Soviet cosmonaut before flying on Vostok 3, August 11 1962. Vostok 3, along with Vostok 4, was the first mission in which two manned spacecraft were working in orbit simultaneously. It orbited 65 times, with a mission length of around 4 days. Nikolayev later went on to fly on Soyuz 9. He married the first woman in space, Valentina Tereshkova, but their marriage collapsed soon after having a daughter. This led to speculation that they were married for propaganda purposes
