This image is a two-century-old sketchbook page from Dutch naturalist Jan Brandes (1750-1833), featuring a detailed drawing of a cuttlefish (Sepia loligo) and an octopus-like creature named Gorita. The cuttlefish, a common cephalopod with the ability to change color and texture for camouflage, is depicted in a close-up view, showcasing its eight arms and the distinctive beak-like structure called the beak or rostrum. The inscription above the cuttlefish reads "Sepia loligo." Beside the cuttlefish, there is a sketch of an octopus-like creature labeled "Gorita."
