John Logie Baird watching the first play to be televised, 14 July 1930, (1935). Mr. John L. Baird watching Pirandellos The Man with the Flower in his Mouth, the first play to be televised. John Logie Baird (1888-1946), Scottish electrical engineer and pioneer of television, began experimenting with imaging systems in the early 1920s. In 1924 he transmitted outline images over wires and by 1925 he was able to transmit recognisable human faces. In 1926 he started the worlds first television station, which he named 2TV.
