Known as Johann Christian Friedrich Hölderlin or simply as Seume, he is regarded as one of the earliest and most influential figures in the development of German literature. The image, created during Hölderlin's later years, reveals a man deeply immersed in thought, with a furrowed brow and a penetrating gaze. His attire, consisting of a simple white shirt and a dark waistcoat, adds to the sense of quiet introspection.
