The date is November 9, 1941. The RAF had placed an order for over a hundred Vigilant IA aircraft, a versatile transport and reconnaissance plane, to bolster their fleet. However, only fourteen of these aircraft were delivered to the RAF, with four of those sustaining damage during transit. Disappointed with the quality and condition of the delivered aircraft, the RAF rejected the remaining orders. The balance of the contracts were then transferred to the US Army Air Forces, who went on to use the Vigilant IA extensively in various roles during World War II.
