On a fine August day in 1977, Concorde 101 touches down at her final home at Duxford, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. Brian Trubshaw, BAe Chief Test pilot and the first to fly Concorde 101, brought her safely into land, to be greeted by a cheering crowd. 20th August 1977
It had not been easy or straightforward. With the aircrafts test career over, 101 had been donated to the Duxford Aviation Society who were eagerly awaiting its arrival. But a few problems had to be overcome first. The runway at Duxford was too short so weight needed to be lost from the plane. Just to add to the excitement, contractors were about to remove a third of the runway to make way for the M11, so time was of the essence.

EDITORS COMMENTS
On a fine August day in 1977, the iconic Concorde 101 gracefully touches down at her final home at Duxford, Cambridge. The anticipation among the crowd is palpable as Brian Trubshaw, BAe Chief Test pilot and the first to fly Concorde 101, expertly lands the supersonic aircraft. Cheers erupt from onlookers who have gathered to witness this historic moment. However, getting Concorde 101 to its new home was no easy feat. With its test career over, the aircraft had been generously donated to the Duxford Aviation Society. But there were challenges that needed to be overcome before it could safely land at Duxford. The runway was too short for such a majestic plane, requiring weight reduction measures. Adding even more excitement to the situation was the fact that contractors were about to remove a significant portion of the runway for construction purposes. Time was of utmost importance. In our captivating print captured during this eventful landing, we see Concorde taxiing towards the apron after successfully completing a difficult landing on an abbreviated runway. This snapshot encapsulates both triumph and relief felt by all involved in bringing this engineering marvel safely home. This photograph serves as a timeless reminder of an era when aviation pushed boundaries and inspired awe in those fortunate enough to witness it firsthand.
