The Wyvern, a post-war development of the successful Westland Sea Wyvern, was a versatile and powerful naval aircraft that served the Fleet Air Arm (FAA) with distinction during the 1950s and early 1960s. The Wyvern S.4 was an evolution of the earlier Wyvern S.1 and S.2, featuring more powerful engines and an improved armament suite. The six aircraft depicted in this image, VZ758, VZ757, VZ852, VZ753, VZ783, and VZ762, were all members of 813 Squadron, a frontline FAA unit that specialized in anti-submarine warfare and fleet defense.
