Tyre advertisement, 19th-century artwork. This large tricycle was built in the USA in the 1890s to advertise rubber tyres. It was designed to be operated by eight cyclists using pedals, with the four men on one side operating that wheel, and the four on the other side operating the other wheel. It was built by the Boston Woven Hose and Rubber Company, of Cambridgeport, USA, by their engineer John Dewolfe, and was fitted with Vim tyres.
