EDITORS COMMENTS
This elegant and captivating photograph captures HRH The Duchess of Kent, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark (1906-1968), in the midst of the 1930s, as she prepares for her upcoming marriage to Prince George, Duke of Kent in November 1934. The future Duchess, dressed in a stylish green top, exudes a sense of grace and poise, reflecting her royal lineage as the daughter of Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark and Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia. Born in Athens, Greece, on November 26, 1906, Princess Marina was raised in a wealthy and influential European family. Her parents' royal connections spanned across Europe, with her father being the younger brother of King Constantine I of Greece and her mother being a granddaughter of Tsar Vladimir Alexandrovich of Russia. As the photograph reveals, Princess Marina's beauty and regal bearing were evident long before her marriage to Prince George. The image, taken in the 1930s, showcases her striking features and the timeless elegance of her attire. The photograph is a testament to the rich history and tradition of the European royal families during this era. Princess Marina's marriage to Prince George, the fourth son of King George V and Queen Mary, brought her into the British royal family. Together, they had three children: Prince Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra of Kent, and Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. The Duchess of Kent passed away on August 18, 1968, leaving behind a legacy as a beloved member of the British royal family and a reminder of the grandeur and sophistication of the European royalty in the 1930s.
