Lincoln Ellsworth, an American businessman and polar explorer, is best known for his attempts to fly over the South Pole in 1935, which he achieved with his partner, Herbert Hollick-Kenyon. Ellsworth was also an accomplished photographer and filmmaker, documenting his expeditions and sharing the wonders of the polar regions with the world. Bernt Balchen, a Norwegian aviator and polar explorer, was a key figure in the Roald Amundsen and Richard E. Byrd expeditions to the Antarctic. Balchen was the first person to fly over the South Pole, and he also played a crucial role in the rescue of Byrd's team during their 1933-35 Antarctic expedition.
