Levrault between 1816 and 1830, showcases the powerful jaw of a Mosasaurus, an extinct aquatic reptile, discovered in Maastricht. The Mosasaurus, a member of the Mosasauridae family, is recognized as one of the largest and most well-known mosasaur genera. This prehistoric creature, measuring up to 18 meters in length, was a formidable carnivore, with a body shape resembling that of a lizard. The intricately detailed illustration, directed by Turpin and engraved by Massard, with the painting by J.G.
