Captain Shaw is in the company of his officers and men from the headquarters station. He resigned from the MFB on 1 November 1891 after having a severe disagreement with the London County Council on how the Fire Brigade should be run. A favourite with the Prince of Wales, Captain Shaw was knighted upon his retirement and became a KCB.
