The illustration was created by the skilled botanical artist Edouard Maubert and beautifully rendered in engraving by L. Lebrun. It is taken from the esteemed horticultural and agricultural publication "La Regne Vegetal: Planets Agricoles et Forestieres," published by Pierre Oscar Reveil, A. Dupuis, Fr. Gerard, and Francois Herincqs in Paris between 1864 and 1871. The Common Corn-cockle is a biennial or short-lived perennial herb that is native to Europe, North Africa, and Western Asia.
