This image is taken from Curtis's British Entomology, a seminal work in the field of entomology published between 1824 and 1839. Plate 110 showcases two intricately detailed Diptera species, Henops marginatus and Ogcodes gibbosus, also known as the Pale-margined Henops and the Gibbous Ogcodes, respectively. The Diptera order, commonly known as two-winged flies, is the largest order of insects, and these two species are both members of the family Lasiidae within the suborder Nematocera. Henops marginatus, the larger of the two flies, can be identified by its slender body, long legs, and distinctive pale margins on its wings. Ogcodes gibbosus, on the other hand, has a more robust appearance, with a rounder body and a prominent, bulbous structure on its thorax.
