The Menin Gate, a war memorial dedicated to the British and Commonwealth soldiers who were killed in the First World War, was unveiled and dedicated by Field-Marshal Lord Plumer. The archway, adorned with the names of over 54,000 soldiers who have no known grave, stands as a testament to the sacrifices made during the war.
