This stunning photograph, taken from the White Star Line's publicity booklet of 1912, showcases the magnificent main staircase aboard the RMS Olympic and her sister ship, RMS Titanic. The image is one of sixteen color plates included in the booklet, entitled "Notes on the Olympic and Titanic," which aimed to showcase the luxurious passenger accommodation and amenities of the two largest steamers in the world. The main staircase, adorned with ornate wrought-iron balustrades and intricate woodwork, serves as a testament to the opulence and grandeur of ocean travel during the 1910s. The Olympic, launched in 1911, was the first of the two ships and was renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities, including a dining saloon, reception room, reading and writing room, smoking room, restaurant, and various classes of passenger accommodation. The Titanic, which followed in 1912, was even more lavish, boasting a Turkish bath, swimming bath, verandah cafe, and a library, among other amenities.
