The Palazzo Pazzi (Palazzo della Congiura or Palazzo Pazzi-Quaratesi

The Palazzo Pazzi (Palazzo della Congiura or Palazzo Pazzi-Quaratesi) - a Renaissance-style palace in Florence, Tuscany, Italy. The architect of the palace was Giuliano da Maiano, though it has in the past been attributed to Michelozzo di Bartolomeo or Filippo Brunelleschi (as ascribed on this postcard). The Pazzi arms (top left) are attributed to Donatello. The Scoppio del Carro (" Explosion of the Cart" ) is also shown (lower left) - a folk tradition of Florence. On Easter Sunday, a cart, packed full of fireworks and other pyrotechnics, is lit and provides a historic spectacle in the civic life of the city. Date: 1902. EDITORS COMMENTS

The Palazzo Pazzi, also known as Palazzo della Congiura or Palazzo Pazzi-Quaratesi, is a magnificent Renaissance-style palace located in the heart of Florence, Tuscany, Italy. This architectural marvel was designed by Giuliano da Maiano, although there have been past attributions to Michelozzo di Bartolomeo and Filippo Brunelleschi. The palazzo, adorned with decorated mullioned windows and rounded arches, proudly displays the Pazzi arms (top left), an intricately designed emblem attributed to Donatello. The palazzo, with its rich history, stands in contrast to the lower left image of the Scoppio del Carro, a traditional folk tradition of Florence. Every Easter Sunday, a historic spectacle unfolds in the civic life of the city as a cart, packed full of fireworks and other pyrotechnics, is lit and sets off an explosive display. This age-old custom, known as the "Explosion of the Cart," adds to the vibrant culture and heritage of Florence. The postcard, dated 1902, offers a glimpse into the past, showcasing the beauty and charm of this Italian city during the early 1900s. The Palazzo Pazzi, with its grandeur and history, remains a testament to the artistic and architectural prowess of the Renaissance period.
