The Sopwith 1 and a Half Strutter, also known as the Sopwith 1B2 in its two-seat Army co-operation and training versions, was a derivative of the successful Sopwith 1 single-seat biplane fighter. With over 4,500 units built in France between 1916 and 1918, it became one of the most produced aircraft types during World War I. As the Sopwith 1 Strutter was being phased out of first-line service, it was relegated to trainer duties, earning the "E2" designation on its fin.
