Report dated 13 September 2006 that AE-024 crashed near Buenos Aires with the loss of both crew. The Argentine Army Aviation received twenty-three OV-1 in the 1990s. This photograph captures a Comando de Aviacion del Ejercito (Argentine Army Aviation) Grumman OV-1C Mohawk with the registration number AE-024, which was once part of the US Army's inventory as 68-15941 (msn 145C). In the late 1990s, Argentina acquired twenty-three OV-1 Mohawks from the US military, with ten of these aircraft remaining operational and the rest used primarily for spare parts. However, on September 13, 2006, tragedy struck when AE-024 crashed near Buenos Aires, resulting in the loss of both crew members. Prior to its retirement from service by 2015, this Mohawk had served the Argentine Army Aviation faithfully for over a decade. The OV-1 Mohawk, a versatile and agile observation and attack aircraft, was widely used by various military forces around the world, including Argentina's, due to its ability to provide reconnaissance, surveillance, and close air support capabilities.
