1938 Blackburn Bristol Brough Compass Incorrect Pegasus Powered Rcaf Rudder Serial Shark Swinging Base

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this intriguing photograph, a Bristol Pegasus IX-powered Blackburn B-6 Shark III, serial number 525, is seen on the compass-swinging base at Brough in November 1938. The Blackburn B-6 Shark III was a transport aircraft designed and manufactured by the Blackburn Aircraft Company in the United Kingdom. Powered by two Bristol Pegasus IX engines, it was a versatile aircraft that could be used for both military and civilian applications. However, in this image, there seems to be an error with the serial number displayed on the incorrect rudder of the aircraft. The Pegasus IX engine, a nine-cylinder air-cooled radial engine, is prominently visible in the foreground, its metallic surface gleaming in the light. The Shark III, with its distinctive curved wings and streamlined fuselage, is positioned on the swinging base, its propellers still. The compass swinging base, a device used to check the accuracy of an aircraft's compass, is also visible in the background. Despite the minor error with the serial number, this photograph offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of aviation history. The Blackburn B-6 Shark III was an important aircraft in its time, and its use of the powerful and reliable Pegasus IX engine was a testament to the engineering prowess of the period. This photograph, taken at the Brough airfield in November 1938, captures a moment in time when innovation and technology were pushing the boundaries of what was possible in aviation.
