Stamp Card produced by Ottmar Zeihar - Bosnia Herzegovina

Stamp Card produced by Ottmar Zeihar - Bosnia Herzegovina. These cards enabled collectors to see stamps which they were unable to obtain, or afford. There is a complete set of 180 cards, some of the smaller countries had a very low printing run and are hence very rare. Used Zeiher cards are very hard to find as the embossed stamp design was not approved by postal authorities as it confused the function of the proper stamps! Date: circa 1904

EDITORS COMMENTS
This intriguing Stamp Card print, published by Ottmar Zeihar in Bosnia Herzegovina around 1904, showcases a montage of stamps that were unobtainable or too expensive for collectors at the time. The set consists of 180 cards, some representing smaller countries with low printing runs and, therefore, high rarity. Zeihar's Stamp Cards were unique in their design, featuring an embossed stamp imitation on the top left corner. However, these cards were not approved by postal authorities due to the confusion they caused with proper stamps. Consequently, used Zeihar cards are exceptionally rare and hard to find. The cards serve as a testament to the growing popularity of philately during the early 1900s. Each card is a miniature work of art, meticulously crafted to represent the crests, coats of arms, and other distinctive features of various countries and regions. These cards were not intended for commercial use but rather for the personal enjoyment and education of stamp collectors. The Stamp Card print showcases a selection of examples from different countries and regions, providing a glimpse into the rich diversity of the world during that era. The unusual design and historical significance of these cards make them highly sought-after collectibles among philatelists today. This Stamp Card print is an intriguing piece of postal history, offering a fascinating insight into the world of communication and postage during the early 20th century.
