John Britten and Desmond Norman, one-time apprentices at the de Havilland aeronautical
John Britten and Desmond Norman, one-time apprentices at the de Havilland aeronautical engineering training school, formed a partnership with the aim of building low-maintenance, rugged aircraft capable of using short runways aircraft at Bembridge on the Isle of Wight.
The BN-2 islander was a huge sucess unlike the this BN-3 Nymph, a smaller, single-engined version. Only two prototypes were built. Neither made it into commercial production.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the dynamic duo of John Britten and Desmond Norman, former apprentices at the prestigious de Havilland aeronautical engineering training school. United by their passion for aviation, they joined forces with a common goal in mind - to construct robust aircraft that required minimal maintenance and could effortlessly navigate short runways. Their visionary partnership led them to Bembridge on the enchanting Isle of Wight. While their first creation, the BN-2 Islander, soared high as a resounding success story, this particular image showcases their lesser-known venture - the BN-3 Nymph. A smaller yet equally ambitious single-engined aircraft designed to conquer new horizons. Regrettably, fate had different plans for this prototype marvel; only two were ever built and neither managed to secure commercial production. In this snapshot frozen in time, we witness an awe-inspiring moment as the BN-3 Nymph takes flight from its birthplace at Bembridge. The anticipation is palpable as it gracefully lifts off into the skies above. This photograph encapsulates not just an era of aviation history but also embodies innovation and determination. Travel enthusiasts will appreciate how this image symbolizes progress in passenger transport during the 1950s while highlighting rigorous testing procedures essential for any prototype's development. With elements of nostalgia blended seamlessly with technological advancements, Mirrorpix's Memory Lane Prints brings forth an extraordinary piece that celebrates human ingenuity in conquering new frontiers through flight.
