Caroll Baker had a relativly unsuccessful film career until she was cast opposite James Dean in the film " Giant" The timing was certainly fortunate. A certain Marilyn Monroe had just appeared on the scene and the stuios were all desperately searching for another Monroe. Baker was spotted and selectd for the job and had already been a hit in the film " Baby Doll" which earnt her an Academy Award Nomination. However, despite sevral attempts she never caught on as a Monroe figure and he left Hollywood and moved to Italy where she restarted her career. Later she returned to Hollywood and she has remained active up to this day, her last film being 1988s " Skeletons"
