It was a day for the christening of 7 month old Kathleen Donohue at Shepperton Parish
It was a day for the christening of 7 month old Kathleen Donohue at Shepperton Parish Church. Harry Corbett was the godfather and Julie Foster his co-star in the film The Bargee was the godmother. Eric Sykes was there too as a friend of the family. When it came to handling the baby it was something of a showdown for Harry, who was a little out of his depth.
The father is Steve Donohue the film stunt man and stand-in for Harry Corbett in the film, He also has been a stand-in for a number of stars, while in the meantime performing hair raising action shots for other films.
Here they are at Steves home in Bravington Close, Shepperton on Thames. 10th November 1963

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from Memory Lane Prints, we are transported back to a heartwarming day in Shepperton Parish Church. It was the christening of little Kathleen Donohue, a seven-month-old bundle of joy. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as Harry Corbett, renowned for his role as Sooty's puppeteer, took on the role of godfather. Joining him as the godmother was Julie Foster, his co-star in the film "The Bargee". As friends and family gathered around, another familiar face graced the occasion - Eric Sykes, a beloved comedian and friend of the Donohue family. However, amidst all the laughter and celebration, it became apparent that handling baby Kathleen would prove to be quite a challenge for Harry. Being out of his depth only added to the charm and humor of this special moment. Kathleen's father is none other than Steve Donohue himself - an accomplished film stuntman and stand-in for Harry Corbett in various productions. Known for his daring action shots behind-the-scenes, Steve has worked alongside numerous stars throughout his career. This precious snapshot captures them all at Steve's home in Bravington Close on Thames - their smiles radiating pure joy and love on that memorable 10th November 1963 day. This photograph serves as a delightful reminder not only of this beautiful christening ceremony but also of London's vibrant entertainment industry during the swinging sixties.
