Even a downpour failed to dampen the spirits of hundreds of youngsters in Newsome
Even a downpour failed to dampen the spirits of hundreds of youngsters in Newsome. They braved the rain to take part in a colourful procession to herald the start of the Newsome International Carnival at the High School. The weather forced events inside the school, but the stalls and musical attractions - include a steel band, Brass bands and Indian dancers - were very popular. The carnivals theme was international friendship - and these youngsters from Stile Common Junior School are pictured celebrating good neighbours round the world. The event ended with two dances at the school and a concert by local band Ceramic Joe. All money raised will go to a minibus adapted for use by disabled youngsters at Newsome High. 8th July 1989

Even a downpour failed to dampen the spirits of hundreds of youngsters in Newsome. They braved the rain to take part in a colourful procession to herald the start of the Newsome International Carnival at the High School. The weather forced events inside the school, but the stalls and musical attractions - including a steel band, Brass bands, and Indian dancers - were very popular. The carnival's theme was international friendship, and these youngsters from Stile Common Junior School are pictured celebrating good neighbors around the world. Despite getting soaked by raindrops, their smiles remained radiant as they embraced diversity and unity. The event concluded with two lively dances at the school and an energetic concert by local band Ceramic Joe. It was heartwarming to witness such enthusiasm from these young souls who understood that even amidst adversity, joy can be found through community spirit. All funds raised during this memorable day will go towards purchasing a minibus adapted for disabled youngsters at Newsome High. This act of kindness exemplifies how compassion knows no boundaries or limitations. This snapshot captures not only a moment in time but also showcases resilience, camaraderie, and youthful exuberance. It serves as a reminder that even when faced with unexpected challenges like inclement weather, determination can prevail.
